Overhead Garage Door Painting Tips

The outer look of your garage says a lot about your home.  An unpainted door or one that looks unkempt reflects badly on the homeowner.

Do not wait for your garage door to shout for help, keep it looking crisp and clean at all times. Painting a garage door is a fun activity that can be undertaken on any bright Sunday. Like any other DIY project have the right tools and materials before you embark on it. Have a look at how simple it.

1. Have the Right Tools

Collect the following tools and paint before you start the project-
·         A bucket for paint
·         Latex brush
·         Stick for stirring
·         Sponge for sanding
·         Drop cloths A step stool
·         A paint opener
Select a paint color which goes with the rest of the color themes in the house.

2. Quantity Of Paint

If you have an aluminum door then it will require less paint than wooden one. Garage Doors Professional in Brick, New Jersey advice that if the door is being repainted in the same color the quantity of paint used will be less. And obviously a single door will require less paint than one with two doors. The door for a single car garage would require a gallon of paint. The extra paint if any can be used for painting the trims and shutters.
3. Choose a Clear Bright Day for Painting
Like any other painting job choose, a day with moderate temperatures for painting and preferable a windless one. For mommies with naughty toddlers an afternoon nap will give you enough time to finish this mission.
